"How gently and lovingly You wake my heart where in Secret You dwell."

St Teresa of Avila is a C16th Spanish mystic, who is a Saint and Doctor of the Catholic Church.  (She is also the patron of those who suffer headaches, and severe bodily aches and pains!).  The ‘Interior Castle’ and the ‘Dark Night of the Soul’ (attributed to St. John of the Cross), are the core symbols of Teresa’s spiritual life and journey.  For Teresa, God is the sacred essence of each human person and union with God is the quest and purpose of human life.

This introductory workshop will just touch the surface of her spiritual theology and writings and it will be seen that Teresa’s psychology has many echoes in our contemporary psychology and psychotherapy.

The day will provide opportunities to explore art works and images as well as aiming to offer experiential elements including meditation, reflection and group discussion. be explored.
