Guest Presenter: Ren Perkins

Ren was born in South East Queensland and has family connections with the Quandamooka People from North Stradbroke Island, and the Aboriginal Community at Cherbourg, Queensland. Ren is proud of his Aboriginal heritage, and would like to contribute to his people through education.

Ren has had 14 years’ experience working in Adult Vocational Education for TAFE NSW. He spent most of this time working with Aboriginal communities to develop and deliver vocational programs in line with community needs. He has also worked with the Aboriginal Employment Strategy, a strategy designed to assist Aboriginal people to find meaningful employment by creating partnerships with local employers. During the last five years, Ren was employed by the Faculty of Theology at the Brisbane campus of Australian Catholic University (ACU). His research focus is on Indigenous spirituality, especially focusing on the works of Fr Eugene Stockton.

Ren has worked in Aboriginal education for many years, and had seen the benefits that education can provide for all Indigenous people.
