Moving towards moderation in the Australian Curriculum environment

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Moderation is an important process in the standards referenced environment of the Australia Curriculum. It enables the building of common understandings of the standards and consistency of teacher judgement in a community of practice.

The network day will feature a keynote presentation and workshop facilitated by Professor Val Klenowski, Professor of Education at the Queensland University of Technology and an Adjunct Professor with the University of South Australia. Professor Klenowski has researched and written widely in the area of assessment.

Leaders will explore research and practice around using standards, developing portfolios of student learning, the position of teacher judgement and the use of moderation.

This is also an opportunity for schools to discuss progress and next steps in their implementation of the Australian Curriculum.
