Professional Learning: Financial and Consumer Literacy

Catholic Education SA invites expression of interest from schools to undertake professional learning in Financial and Consumer Literacy.

In the three-hour workshop, schools will explore MoneySmart Workshop 1 and related resources. 

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Financial Literacy Overview - MoneySmart Workshop 1. (1 hour)

  • introduction to consumer and financial literacy to whole staff - its importance and how it can be taught as a context for teaching the Australian Curriculum
  • overview of the MoneySmart Teaching package and the MoneySmart units of work.

The workshop will focus on science as a context for teaching financial literacy.  All teachers will receive a certificate of attendance from ASIC.

Exploring the Science Resources (2 hours)

E Teachers will engage with one of the units provided on the MoneySmart website in either a primary or secondary setting.

The overall content and timing of this section could be negotiated with the school to suit their needs.

COURSE INFORMATION

Registrations will close on Tuesday 11 August 2015.  Schools will be notified by email shortly after the registration close date so that professional learning date could and number of teachers attending could be set.
