Registration for 2015 MDI: Measuring Student Wellbeing 

EVENT DESCRIPTION

The Middle Years Development Instrument (MDI) is a population-level, self-report survey for children in the middle years which covers how young people think and feel about their lives both inside and outside of school. This information will assist schools, policy makers and community members to find ways to create environments that help children in their community thrive.

INFORMATION

The MDI was trialed in 167 South Australian government and non-government schools in 2013 and 2014, including 17 Catholic schools.

• The Department for Education and Child Development (DECD) is to run a second round of MDI data collection in Term 3, 2015, during weeks 5-8.
• All Catholic Schools are invited to participate and can opt to include some or all of their middle years classes (Years 6,7,8 and 9). There is no cost associated with participation.
• The MDI comprises 76 items and takes approximately 60 minutes over a maximum of two class lessons.
• Participating schools will receive and MDI report by Term 4,2015 which presents findings relevant to their students. The report can be used to discuss patterns among middle year students and identify potential influences on their wellbeing.

• Time use during the after school hours
