EAL A scaffolded approach to comprehending and composing science texts - series of 3 workshops

COURSE DESCRIPTION This course will provide teachers of middle years Science with knowledge and understandings about a scaffolding pedagogy which supports their students to successfully comprehend and compose common Science texts using relevant structures and language features. Participants as teacher researchers will experience, deconstruct, apply and then review the strategies in their classrooms.
INTENDED FOR:This workshop is suitable for teachers of middle years (7-10) Science however teachers of other subject areas are welcome.
COURSE INFORMATION: Participants are required to attend all 3 sessions and commit to 'between session' classroom application and research. We strongly encourage colleagues to attend together Session 1: Tuesday 18 August, 4.00pm - 5.30pm CEO Conference Centre - Room 6 Session 2: Monday 31 August, 12.30 - 5.00pm CEO Conference Centre - Room 6 Session 3: Tuesday 22 September, 4.00pm - 5.30pm CEO Conference Centre - Room 8 A maximum of 18 participants for each workshop
