CESA Re-imagining Childhood 0-18
Pre-Schools Forum
Pedagogista Deanna Margini
"We, therefore, conceive of a school as a community, an intermediate place between the single individual and culture of the society at large, a space for exchanging and comparing ideas, in which each individual can state his or her own point of view, and can seek and construct with others shared values and rules.
In order for the value of plurality to be visible in the school, recalling the metaphor used by Dr. Jerome Bruner, 'We need a school-forum, where the children and adults are welcomed in their wholeness.'
-Deanna Margini, "A Difference in Ethics or an Ethics of Differences," Innovations in Early Education: The International Reggio Emilia Exchange, Spring 2006
