Being with God: Contemplative Prayer in the Classroom
COURSE DESCRIPTION
· This course explores the tradition of Contemplative Prayer and provides practical opportunities for young people to engage with contemplative prayer and to build teacher capacity by exploring means of incorporating contemplative meditation into the prayer life of their school. This model of prayer identifies the contemplative dimension of Christian faith and leads from the mind to the heart. Children can enjoy silence and stillness and this allows them to feed their yearning for the experience of meeting God. This method channels simplicity, silence and stillness and has been found to provide marked benefits for centreing children, allowing them a means of prayerful capacity and develops capacity for aligning with the other.
