DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES FOR PRIMARY TEACHERS

Have you ever:

·         Written a computer program?

·         Developed an algorithm?

·         Interpreted binary code?

If you answered no to any of these questions then these workshops are for you.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

The workshops provide an opportunity for primary teachers to explore the concepts of the new Digital Technologies curriculum (Australia Curriculum: Technologies).

Through hands-on activities teachers will:

  •         Explore visual programming tools
  •          Design and implement algorithms
  •         Collect and manipulate data for digital solutions
  •          Interpret and write binary code

WORKSHOP INFORMATION

The workshops have been developed for primary school teachers to provide an introduction to the concepts of the Digital Technologies Curriculum, such as computational thinking, visual programming, data representation, algorithm generation, digital and information systems.

The workshops will provide participants with a variety of learning opportunities that include the use of PCs, tablets and un-plugged activities. It is anticipated that participants will begin to unpack the digital technologies curriculum and develop some basic skills to help them implement the curriculum in the classroom.

No previous experience with digital technologies curriculum is required.
