DESCRIPTION:https://registrationcentre.cesa.catholic.edu.au/event-740190\n\nEAL\n \n\n  Language for Writing Successfully in Secondary School\n  Closing Date for Registration: Friday 27 September 2013\n  Minimum number of 8 participants will be required for this course to commence\n    This 3 module course focuses on key aspects of language that are required for writing specific subject discipline texts in secondary school.  It uses the ACARA Literacy Capability and the Language and Literacy Levels (11-14) as organizational frameworks to unpack the grammar knowledge required to be a successful writer.\n  Each workshop session will include:\n      * building knowledge and understanding\n\n        * application of knowledge through activities\n\n        * reflecting on classroom applications\n\n  Aspects of grammar knowledge covered:\nNoun groups\, Nominalisation\, Foregrounding\, passive voice\, connecting ideas through combining clauses and language for evaluating.\n  Session Times and Dates:\n All sessions 1.00pm - 4.30pm\nTuesday       29 October 2013         - Room 7 \n Wednesday 06 November 2013    - Room 6\n Tuesday       12 November 2013    - Room 7\n  Between module activities and reading reflections (optional component)\nParticipants who would like to gain further credit points can elect to complete follow up activities in their classroom and provide written reflections on academic readings between each workshop.\n \n This Professional Learning session references the following AITSL Australian Professional Standards for Teachers:\n Standards 6: Engage in professional learning\n Duration: 10.5 hours in total\n  Certificate:\nOn completion of the course\, participants will be issued a certificate indicating modules attended and acknowledgement of completed follow up activities/reading reflections.\n  Cost: Free\n  Catering: refreshments are provided    Venue:\n Catholic Education Office - Conference Centre\n 116 George Street\, Thebarton    \n  Parking is not available on site.
