The teacher resource: Composing Written Science Texts - Australian Curriculum: Science 7-10 is designed to support teachers of Science and STEM in embedding explicit teaching of the text structures and grammar of Science writing into Science learning. \n  Through participation in these workshops and a brief action research cycle\, teachers will be supported to effectively utilise this resource in order to embed teaching of the language and literacy of written texts within the context of the science topic and assessment tasks.\n  COURSE INFORMATION\n When:  Workshop 1: Wednesday 24 July - Room 7\, 4.00pm - 6.00pm  \n                  and\n                  Subsequent Workshop 2: Thursday 05 September - Room 7\, 4.00pm - 6.00pm       \n  Location: Catholic Education Office\, 116 George St\, Thebarton \n                        \n A minimum of 10 is required for this Professional Learning to proceed\n  CORE FOCI AND PRIORITIES\nThe Literacy & Language of Science\n \n AITSL NATIONAL PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS FOR TEACHERS INCLUDE:\n Standard 2 - Know the content and how to teach it\nStandard 3 - Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning\nStandard 6 - Engage in professional learning\n   INTENDED FOR:\n\n      * All Science and STEM teachers\, Science coordinators\, middle school teachers and coordinators \n\n        *  Teachers who already have a copy of this resource and would like to use it more effectively\n\n  PROGRAM OUTLINE:\n\n  Workshop 1  - Plan\n  Overview of the resource.\nModel learning design and strategies for teaching the specific language features\nApply this to a written task within your own class  \n  Between sessions: Act and Observe \n  Professional learning actions\n Consultant support for text analysis and learning design\nImplement a series of teaching/learning lessons and observe the effects \n\n  Workshop 2  Reflect\n  Reflect on your professional learning inquiry actions and observations \nShare annotated model text and/or successful student texts OR documented language teaching activity\n  IMPORTANT NOTES:\nPlease bring your own copy of the Composing Written Science Texts\n Order Form\n \n Cost: no workshop fee\n  Catering: Light refreshments will be provided\n  FACILITATOR:\n Consultants - Maria Davis & Chris Payne\n\n For Further Information regarding registration:\nChris Virgin\n chris.virgin@cesa.catholic.edu.au\n 08 8301 6851\n
