DESCRIPTION:https://registrationcentre.cesa.catholic.edu.au/event-2707297\n\nThe Numeracy Team has organised a conference day for teachers who have participated in Numeracy Projects and the Leading Learning in Mathematics and Numeracy Network\, to present their school-based research.\n  During this day\, two invited speakers – Dr Virginia Kinnear and Mr Jason Loke\, will explore interdisciplinary approaches to curriculum initiatives\, such as STEM.\n  Dr Virginia Kinnear is a lecturer in Early Childhood at Flinders University. Virginia completed her PhD in early childhood mathematics where she researched young children’s statistical reasoning. Her research interests include the role of language in reasoning\, critical thinking and concept development and how mathematics is experienced and learned in early childhood.\n\n  Her presentation will focus on how interdisciplinary environments such as STEM\, maintain the integrity of the respective disciplines\, such as mathematics. This workshop will explore some key ideas for the teachers of mathematics and for school leaders.\n  Jason Loke is a Senior Leader with responsibility of Interdisciplinary Curriculum / STEM Innovations at Australian Science and Mathematics School. Jason has lead professional learning activities in schools focusing on curriculum design\, student well being and innovative pedagogies. He has experience in building online professional learning platforms.\n\n  This workshop will be an opportunity to explore interdisciplinary ideas to help you construct purposeful connections to Mathematics within the Australian Curriculum.
