Developing written English is incredibly complex and for many students\, does not and will not happen without explicit language teaching. In order for students to successfully meet the demands of the curriculum at all levels of schooling\, they need to be skilled writers.\n  This one day workshop will introduce teachers to the resource\, unpacking the various aspects which support learning. The workshop will also cover backward design\, the teaching and learning cycle and the elements of TfEL Learning Design. Participants will have an opportunity to plan for their own contexts with peer and consultant support.\n  COURSE INFORMATION\n \n When:     \n  Tuesday 23 September 2014\, 9.00am - 4.30pm\, Room 7\n\nLocation: Catholic Education Conference Centre\n                       116 George Street\, Thebarton\n                         \n A maximum of 20 participants\n  CORE FOCI AND PRIORITIES\nACARA Student diversity English as an Additional language students\n \nAITSL NATIONAL PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS FOR TEACHERS INCLUDE:\n Standard 3 - Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning\n      3.1 Establish challenging learning goals\n       3.2 Plan\, structure and sequence learning programs\n       3.3 Use teaching strategies\n       3.4 Select and use resources\nStandard 6 - Engage in professional learning\n       6.2 Engage in professional learning and improve practice\n       6.3 Engage with colleagues and improve practice\n \n INTENDED FOR:\nThis workshop is suitable for primary  teachers who wish to design learning that meets the specific English Language needs of the students using the resource Composing Written Texts across the Australian Curriculum F-6. \n  PROGRAM OUTLINE:\nParticipants are encouraged to bring a copy of the resource or purchase one on the day at the cost of $49.50 (inc GST).\n\nIn this workshop participants will explore the correlation between Composing Written Texts across the Australian Curriculum F-6 and the Language and Literacy Levels across the Australian Curriculum EALD Students. Participants will consider the needs of their own students and design learning opportunities for explicit language learning leading to the written production of curriculum genres.\n  Cost: no workshop fee\n  Catering: morning tea and lunch will be  provided\n  Parking is not available on site.
